INGREDIENTS

 

  • 1 Cup sifted flour
  • 3/4 Cup white sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp cocoa or 3
  • 1/2 Cup milk
  • 1 tsp pure vanillia
  • 2 tbsp shortening melted or butter
  • 1/2 Cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 3/4 brown sugar

 

DIRECTIONS

  1. Sift together 1 Cup sifted flour
  2. 3/4 C white sugar
  3. 2 tsp baking powder
  4. 1/4 tsp salt
  5. 2 Tbsp cocoa or 3

 

Stir in

  1. 1/2 Cup milk
  2. 1 tsp pure vanilla
  3. 2 tbsp shortening melted or butter
  4. 1/2 Cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  5. Turn into greased 8"-9" square pan.
  6. Pour hot topping over--do NOT stir Topping
  7. Mix together 3/4 brown sugar packed, 2 tbsp cocoa or 4 tbsp.
  8. Then sprinkle over butter.
  9. Pour over: 1 1/2 -1 3/4 Cup boiling water
  10. Bake at 350 for 40-45 min till topping is firm. Sauce on bottom is like a pudding...so spoon sauce over cake.
